Geology in the Field – Up Close and Core-Deep

Kick off your conference experience with an immersive geological field trip through key parts of the Eastern Tasmanides. Led by experienced geoscientists, this technical tour will showcase outcrops and core from significant mineral systems across the region.

The field trip will examine the geology and mineral systems of two flagship projects hosted in the Macquarie Arc in the Eastern Tasmanides – the world-class Cadia Valley porphyry Cu-Au system, and the emerging Spur Project epithermal-porphyry system. Thanks to Newmont Corporation and Waratah Minerals, participants will examine core from both systems with project and expert geologists, visit key field stops to explore the geological setting, and discuss the geological history and landscape evolution with implications for exploration.

This field trip is open to conference attendees ONLY.
